![]() Human civilization struggles to survive in a world following the exhaustive Metal Head Wars, which resulted in the destruction of Precursor civilization. With the exception of The Precursor Legacy, which in the timeline is set in the past relative to other installments, the series has a notably dystopian setting, with a theme being that there are no more "heroes", with Jak being the last left. The technology of the universe is not completely consistent, with many areas more developed than others, although hovering zoomers and eco-powered equipment are a common feature. The world features many science fiction elements, such as the cyberpunk and steampunk-influenced setting of Haven City and many Precursor artifacts. The world, created by the Precursors, often features many gold-like Precursor artifacts, with the most notable being Precursor orbs and power cells. Many animals are hybrids of different real-world animals, while others are still inspired by real-world animals but unique to the setting, and many animals are members of larger species such as lurkers and metal heads. Many other sapient, articulate species are known to inhabit the planet, notably ottsels, moncaws and lurkers. The main population consist of humans, which have noticeable elf-like ears. The series is set on an unnamed planet which was created by the mythological Precursors. The Industrial Section of Haven City, a central location in the setting These come in various forms, and some are based on real-world games, such as the Pac-Man-style eco grid game, or the Whac-A-Mole-based Metal Head Mash. The games sometimes involves button-based minigames. Green eco is provided throughout the game to heal the player. Dark and light eco also allow Jak to take on different forms which he can use at will, namely Dark Jak and Light Jak, respectively. These provide different abilities to Jak or serve as the ammunition base for his weapons. Race cars were used in Jak X: Combat Racing, a game which deviated from the typical franchise gameplay and focused solely on racing.ĭaxter fires the Vulcan Fury Morph Gun mod, as Jak drives the zoomer in Haven City.Įco of various colors are a common element in the gameplay as well as the plot and serve specific purposes. ![]() In Jak II and Jak 3, Jak used the JET-Board, a hoverboard-like device. The series also makes use of animal mounts, such as flut fluts and leapers, as well as all-terrain buggies and airships. The most common vehicle used is the zoomer, a reasonably fast hovercar-like vehicle. The types of vehicles used change between installments and are utilized to traverse larger environments or tackle a specific task. In addition to platforming and melee combat, driving and racing segments are a prominent feature, as the characters drive various vehicles and creatures. The playable character can take only a few hits before death, after which they return to the latest checkpoint with no other consequences, other than occasional, short death dialogue. In Jak II and Jak 3, this was the Morph Gun, though in The Lost Frontier, Jak used the Gunstaff instead, while in Daxter, Daxter used the spray gun. Aside from melee attacks, such as spin kicking and punching with a lunge, from Jak II onwards, a weapon on which various mods can be attached provide a wide array of weapons. Gameplay throughout the main series focuses on platforming with a basic move set, including jumping, rolling, and various melee attacks. Jak traversing the Forbidden Jungle in The Precursor Legacy The plot arc focuses on a human character named Jak and his ottsel sidekick Daxter, who are intertwined in an adventure involving the mystical Precursors. One notable element throughout the series is a lack of loading screens, using seamless transitions within its open world environments, one of Naughty Dog's paramount goals in early development. The games in the franchise span a variety of genres, primarily centered upon open world action adventure, with elements of platforming, brawling, racing, and shooting within a science fantasy setting. The series is regarded as one of the most defining and innovative franchises for the PlayStation 2 era, and is among Sony Interactive Entertainment's most successful intellectual properties. By December 2017, emulation and trophy support was added for the original trilogy and Jak X: Combat Racing on PlayStation 4. Additionally, the original trilogy was remastered for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita by Mass Media in 2012. Although originally and primarily developed for the PlayStation 2, other games have been developed for the PlayStation Portable by other developers, namely Daxter by Ready at Dawn and The Lost Frontier by High Impact Games. The Jak and Daxter series is a video game franchise created by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

On November 5, 2005, the English version of Quake 4 (Windows) was put on the infamous German index by the BPjM. In the past, The CPL also supported Quake, Quake II and Quake III: Arena. With major cash prizes at stake, this is the duel game all the top gamers will be playing in 2006. On 14th September 2005, prior to the release, The CPL (The Cyberathlete Professional League) announced Quake 4 as the one-versus-one competition game for 2006. Multiplayer options are rather limited, offering only the standard Deathmatch modes and CTF. The game uses a somewhat improved version of the Doom 3 engine to good effect. Weapons can be improved later in the game, making them much more effective. The arsenal contains elements from all Quake games (nailgun, rail gun, lightning gun) and the classic BFG has been replaced by the Dark Matter Gun. There are squad mates, some of which are important to protect, some vehicles (a hovertank and a mech) and frequently changing objectives to achieve. Not as large scale as a military FPS or even Halo, but close enough. This time the lone soldier theme (of Quake I, II and the Doom series) is replaced by a war. The second wave of attack is meant to land on Stroggos and take advantage of the brief disorder, ending the threat of the Strogg forever. By some twist of fate a sole marine was able to disable the Strogg main planetary defense (aka The Big Gun) and kill Makron, their leader. In short, the Earfun Air 3 deliver strong performance for their modest price, with robust bass, good clarity and a relatively wide soundstage. They have slightly larger wool-composite drivers (11mm versus 10mm), slightly improved noise canceling and better battery life - up to seven hours with noise canceling on, according to Earfun. Lightweight and comfortable to wear - I got a good seal with the largest ear tip size - these aren't a huge upgrade over the Earfun Air S, but they are better. The company's new-for-2023 Earfun Air Pro 3 earbuds feature the latest Qualcomm QCC3071 system-on-a-chip with aptX Adaptive for Android and other devices that support the new LE Audio standard and LC3 audio codec, which is superior to the SBC codec (they also support AAC for Apple devices). The companion app for iOS is fairly basic, but you can upgrade the firmware and tweak the sound profile with a customizable EQ option.Įarfun has put out a series of wireless earbuds over the last couple of years with one important commonality: They're very good values, made more so by frequent discounts. There's also a transparency mode that sounds only OK, not great (a physical button on the earbuds activates it) and they have an IPX5 water-resistance rating, which means they can withstand a sustained spray of water. ![]() Their case charges wirelessly and battery life is very good at up to eight-and-a-half hours with ANC on. Some people with Android devices that support those codecs may not be thrilled with that, but, as I said, they sound quite good using AAC, offering clean sound with punchy bass and good clarity. While they have multipoint Bluetooth pairing - you can pair them to two devices simultaneously - they are missing a few features, including ear-detection sensors, and they only support the AAC audio codec (they're equipped with Bluetooth 5.2), not LDAC or aptX. They did perform very well in my voice-calling test, reducing much of the background noise around me in the streets of New York while picking up my voice clearly, or so callers told me. The Between 3ANC, the company's first noise-canceling earbuds, also do a good job muffling ambient sound, though they aren't up to the level of the Bose QuietComfort 2 earbuds for noise-canceling prowess. Status Audio's earbuds aren't exactly the sleekest or most attractive earbuds you can buy, but if you don't mind their utilitarian look and giant stems, you are getting an excellent sounding set of earbuds. ![]() There are also sharp differences in altitude in many battles, making the battles more difficult and varied compared to the preceding game.īut the best improvement was done with magic.
